“If you have good times, and if you have good rhymes
You may have found your one and only
But then the one you like-like says "take a hike-hike"
Then suddеnly you're lonely.
But still be glad, еven if you're sad.
Take comfort just in knowing
You'll be okay, it's Valentine's Day
Your heart's not broken, it's only growing” 💌

happy tinimmy week from me and my tinimmy tattoo 📓💖🕺🏻
eventually, i hope to fill this entire leg with bob's burgers tattoos, but it didn't seem right to start with anything other than my sweet stupid angel baby freaks 👫 eleven year old me thought that they were the pinnacle of romance, and i think she'd be jazzed to know that i still love them enough at twenty-four to stick em on my body forever :) "my heart says yes, but my butt says no" 💘 @tinimmyweek

"And that kid has more heart in his regular-sized body than anyone else in this school" is one of the sweetest things ever said on Bob's Burgers. Or any show. Or in the universe, generally.
I also love the way that Louise is so upset that she is incapable of finishing her sentence coherently ("And you're...you...") Chloe is correct. Louise is, indeed, freaking out.
Kristen Schaal's voice acting in that episode never ceases to amaze me.

Damnit, Rudy
Valentine's Day - 4th grade
Louise still couldn't quite believe that she was wrong about Rudy's crush. Who else could he have been talking about with Zeke? Who else would he even want to give love weeds to? It was supposed to be her, wasn't it? Of course it was going to be Louise. They're best friends! Rudy was going to give her love weeds on stupid Valentine's Day—she was so sure of it, all morning.
But the thought of receiving them scared her, and she tried to prevent it as best she could. So when Rudy finally told her the love weeds were for Chloe, not Louise, shouldn't that have been a...relief? But it wasn't. Instead, Louise saw her own feelings etched onto the face of her best friend in the playground after school, when she finally got through to him that Chloe didn't like him—that she'd been using him.
Louise groaned, the memory of the recent playground incident playing back in her mind and making her blood boil.
She wasn't intending to slap Rudy, it just happened! But it didn't do anything to make her stupid feelings go away, just like slapping Boo Boo didn't make her stop having a stupid crush on a stupid boy band singer, even if he was the reason faces were invented. He deserved it, at least. All Rudy did was look all sad for not getting his stupid first kiss on stupid Valentine’s Day, making Louise suddenly care about wiping that stupid frown off his stupid face.
She wasn't exactly intending to kiss Rudy, either. It just…happened. And she didn’t hate it? But it all happened so fast! The kiss and the slap and everything that led up to it that day... Even in that moment, that split-second of stupidity that was nothing more than a kiss to shut him up—that's it!—even as it was happening, Louise didn't anticipate that she’d be slapping him any more than she anticipated having stupid feelings happening in her stomach! But it happened—the stupid feelings. During the kiss. And the slap. To get rid of said stupid feelings. Whatever the hell they were!
The closest sensation Louise could compare it to was the feeling of being on a really fast roller coaster, right after the first big drop—the higher, the better—when your stomach does somersaults and fills up with air. Your whole body seems to fill up with air, making you all lightheaded, and you only want to laugh or scream. Or both.
But chasing down some brat with smelly shampoo and breaking her best friend’s heart and immediately trying to mend it again (not even understanding why kissing him of all things was part of her approach but stumbling into it all the same)? None of that was anything like a good, rickety old ride at the Wonder Wharf—something that lacks the regular maintenance to make it just actually dangerous enough for the sense of thrill to be real.
Why did kissing Rudy make her feel like that? And why did she kiss him in the first place? Why did she feel so…disappointed that he like-liked Chloe enough to want her to be his first kiss? Why not Louise? Why, Rudy? Why Rudy?

In honor of the lovely fanart by @devilh0rnsinc that you can find here, I have taken it upon myself to revisit this fic. Chapter one (excerpted above) has been most heavily revised. I'll be sharing snippets of each chapter as I prepare to publish chapter five: Freshman Summer! <3 thanks for reading

AWLRIGHTTT, just a quick reminder that on this day, "bob actually" released ❤️ how do you feel about this special episode?
*sigh*
Well, you asked for this!
This episode means a lot to me. Weird, a silly Valentine's episode from an adult cartoon means more to me than my childhood pet. No joke!
Bob Actually has to be hands down my favourite Bob's Burgers episode ever. Now I feel some of you reading this going: Oh Devil, you only like it because of the ROUDISE! And you would be correct to some degree. However, this episode is so much more than a shipping moment.
I love the storylines throughout the episode, how they all interlink and create an overall message of love and acceptance, and that nothing can stop love. Now I haven't watched Love Actually (SCANDALOUS) but it's probably similar and they have taken inspiration from it for this episode. Putting that aside, it was still the most plotlines we have ever had in a BB episode, and they did it so well. We had Tina's storyline with her diarrhoea and her sky kiss with JJ, Bob and Teddy taking a dance class with 'Hip Hop' teacher Shelly and Flips White Fudge (Funniest side character ever), Gene with Isabella making Chocolate, Dark chocolate. Linda and Miss Selbo, an underrated and quirky pair that we see again in season 13. And of course Louise, Rudy and Chloe Barbash, and how jealous and protective Louise gets over her friend.
All of these storylines were hilarious and balanced the episode out perfectly. OH and how could I forget Speedo Guy and Mermaid-Unicycle Girl!
This was the first episode I ever saw of Bob's so I may look at this episode through Rose-tinted glasses, but I don't care. I still enjoy the episode to this day, and that's all that matters, isn't it? It's a timeless classic.
Of course, Louise and Rudy were a massive part of this, and they were the first ship that I ever drew fanart for. And just for Lols here is my first fanart of them compared to my latest:

2019 - 2024... Crazy right.
These two got me to where I am today! An awesome YouTube channel where I met a ton of amazing people, I literally found some friends for life on there. Some amazing mutuals on here and Insta sharing my passion for these little dweebs. And then finally creating art for others and starting up my own projects. I mean it gets me emotional sometimes...
AND THIS IS ALL BECAUSE OF THAT EPISODE.
So yeah I love Bob Actually... And I have watched it many (20) times, and I will be watching it again tonight.
Thank you for the ask <3

It took me so long to realize that the reason JJ tries to get Tina to change clothes in Bob Actually is because he knows they're about to be on a trampoline and she's wearing a skirt
This is actually more thought than I ever put into that line, ngl. Good job. You ever experience seeing your otp kiss and it just stops all coherent thought for a while? Yeah.

Yeah, yeah, Ford dated the triangle. But now can we talk about how Ford is now openly loving and caring (at least through his notes and journals) and letting his family into his supernatural shenanigans WHILE these bunch of wacky buffoons still manage to let him have his personal space and spend hours in his room without being disturbed???
LIKE he's okay with them entering the room whenever they please when he's not there and even reading his journals and notes (cause he expresses himself better through his writing) and they're all SO welcoming when he comes upstairs after hours locked in his room having a silent meltdown???
Ford will show no reaction besides an awkward smile and just being there but will write about how his family is his universe and how he actually loves doing cute stuff with Mabel like dressing the same and I CAN'T-
Autistic old man has rediscovered unconditional love and respected boundaries. Ford is living the dream.

My "Bob Actually" inspired fics
Tumblr media
Today is the anniversary of the airdate of "Bob Actually". It is probably my favorite episode of the series for a number of reasons (not just the Roudise kiss!), but it feels even more important to me now because without it, I probably never would have been pulled into this larger world of "Bob's Burgers" fandom. Literally. It inspired my first fic. And inspired or co-inspired several more.
So, for any of my fellow Louise/Rudy fans out there who need just a little more Roudise love after rewatching the episode, I thought I would compile my fics inspired by it:
"Surely It's Okay if I Just Tell Pancake?"- After getting his first (non-parents and grandmother) kiss from Louise at the end of “Bob Actually”, Regular-Sized Rudy goes home and talks about the day’s events and his feelings for Chloe and Louise to the one friend he knows will keep it a secret- his stuffed flounder, Pancake. (My very first "Bob's Burgers" fic and first piece of fiction writing in over a decade!)
"Old Friends/Bookends"- In their early-20s, Louise and Rudy are moving in to their first apartment together. They unpack a box that was in storage at Rudy's dad's and find Rudy's beloved stuffed flounder, Pancake. Unfortunately, he is not in the best shape. (The quasi-sequel to "Surely It's Okay If I Just Tell Pancake?")
"The Barbash Inquisition"- When Louise is assigned to work on a class project with Chloe Barbash, she ends up confessing a secret to the last person she’d want to. For Roudise Week 2023, Day 3 Prompts: Jealousy/Crush. (Set a few weeks after "Bob Actually" and features Louise and Chloe discussing the episode. My least fluffy story, but it's really fun trying to see Louise and Rudy's relationship from Chloe's POV and just somewhat humanizing Chloe in general.)
"Happy Anniversary (Whenever It Is...)"-Fifteen-year-old Rudy gives Louise a gift to celebrate the first anniversary of their first date. Louise does not agree that it is their first anniversary. Written for Flufftober 2023 prompt Day 13 “wrong”, in this case “wrong anniversary date” (My framing story for a Roudise "clip show"! I love making callbacks to episodes and by my count refer to eight different Louise/Rudy adventures in this less than 3,000 word story- and at least two of my favorite non-Rudy episodes. "Bob Actually" most definitely comes up!)
Hope someone enjoys this! I just wanted to try to do something to celebrate the anniversary of this episode that means so much to me!
